Almost 150 years ago, the first white settlers arrived on the shores of Mud (Moonlight) Bay. These fishermen and their families came by boat past the Indian Settlements, and built log cabins. There were no roads, it was total primeval wilderness. The waters were teeming with fish. There was venison in the forest and waterfowl in abundance. A virtual paradise, almost. There was much deprivation, as these and others soon followed would discover.
