In the late 1920s a group of investors purchased Chambers Island. This is a reproduction of the map of their planned development of the island. The original map was included as part of a prospectus for potential buyers.
Details include an 18-hole golf course and clubhouse, a recreational area with polo field and baseball diamonds, and a shopping district surrounding the new marina to be built at the north end of the island.
The stock market crash of 1929 ultimately put an end to the plan.
This high quality print is lithographically reproduced on 80lb stock.
