This particular map of Milwaukee, originally published in 1881, provides the locations of major landmarks in the city of the day including churches, breweries, and government buildings. Each of the wards into which the city is subdivided is a separate color, which adds visual appeal. It is instructive to compare street names shown with those in use today. As you might expect, many changes have taken place in the intervening years.
