Through his correspondence, photos and documents we come to know more about C.H. Thordarson (1867-1945) who owned an estate on Rock Island, Wisconsin, now a Wisconsin State Park. An Icelandic immigrant at the age of five, and with minimal schooling, he became a noted electrical inventor and industrialist, and a collector of books. His private library became one of the finest anywhere.
This is the first English language book about C.H. Thordarson. His saved letters and photos help to complete the picture of this extraordinary man. These are presented for the reader, along with explanatory text, in a way that entertains the reader and furthers understanding of Thordarson's deep association with Rock Island.
